My research is showing there's MANY ways to raise the compression on this engine, from using closed chamber heads to installing domed pistons, etc.

The 781/049 heads work very well when prepped correctly. In the end it might be cheaper to buy new. People have done this for years with a 454 but if you only have a block go 496.
