WebMar 23, 2011 · Discussion Starter · #3 · Jan 8, 2007. The front looks like a regular Chev type front with coils. However it looks to be only about 1 1/2" off the bumpstops as is. I know it's common to lower a corvair car with aftermarket coils, but not sure how similar they are to the van. Darn weather is keeping me from crawing under it right now. WebNOTE: A compressor is needed but no regular coil spring compressor will work on the front Corvair coil springs. This compressor is one that we are making and works on all 1960-69 front coil springs. Comes complete with instructions. (The rear coil springs can. usually be easily installed by 2 people with a jack to lift up under the rear wheel).
